The English rock band was formed in the year 1978. David Coverdale formed the band after he departed from his previous band ‘Deep Purple’. Whitesnake became widely popular with their 1987 hit single ‘Here I Go Again’ which was able to reach #1 position on Billboard Hot 100 charts. The earlier projects of the band have often been compared to Deep Purple’s, however during the mid-80s the band swayed forward to incorporate hard rock style in their music style. The EP titled ‘Snakebite’ was released in the year 1978. Their debut album ‘Trouble’ was released in 1978 which peaked at #50 in the UK Albums Chart. Whitesnake’s most commercially successful album was their eponymous album which was released in the year 1987. The album spawned Whitesnake’s most recognizable songs like ‘Here I Go Again’ and ‘Is This Love’. The band was named as the 85th Greatest Hard Rock band of all time by VH1 in the year 2005.
