The band’s original name was meant to be ‘Thin Lizzy’ although during their early years the name of the band was often mistakenly promoted as Tin Lizzy. The Irish hard rock band was formed in the year 1969 in Dublin. Originally the band was formed by founding members, drummer Brian Downey and bass guitarist and vocalist Phil Lynott along with guitarist Eric Bell and organist Eric Wrixon. Phil remained constantly as the frontrunner, for the band’s thirteen studio albums. Owing to Phil’s death in 1986, the band saw several incarnations in 1996 and 2004. The band’s first single was released in the year 1970 by EMI record label which was entitled as ‘The Farmer’/ ‘I Need You’. ‘Whiskey in the Jar’, ‘Jailbreak’ and ‘The Boys Are Back in Town’, are some of the songs that made the band remarkably famous and earned them worldwide recognition. Various hard rock and classic rock radio stations often play the above mentioned hit songs.
