The Specials are an English 2 Tone ska revival band which was formed in the year 1977. The band saw its origin in Coventry, England. The band was formed by songwriter and keyboardist Jerry Dammers with vocalist Terry Hall and guitarist and vocalist Lynval Golding. The Specials are famous for wearing rude boy outfits of the 60s which included pork pie hats, tonic and mohair suits and loafers. The year 1980 saw their song ‘Too Much Too Young’, which was a lead track from their EP, reach number one in UK. Another unemployment-themed single titled ‘Ghost Town’ peaked at #1 on the UK Singles Chart. Several singles released by the band made it to the charts of UK Top 10 singles between 1979 and 1981. The band broke up in the year 1984 however it was announced in 2008 that the band would reunite for several tours. Currently the band is touring excessively in America and Europe.
