The American rock band was formed in the year 1965 in Los Angeles, California. The band saw several reunions over the years however the band performed in a consistent manner for almost a decade since they were formed.

The former founding members of the band were vocalist Jim Morrison, keyboardist Ray Manzarek, drummer John Densmore and guitarist Robby Krieger. The name of the band has been inspired from Aldous Huxley’s book titled ‘The Doors of Perception’.

The Doors are considered to be one of the most controversial bands of all time. This was basically because of the lead vocalist Jim Morrison’s unpredictable stage persona.

Their eponymous album was released in the year 1967 which earned them a huge fan following. The Doors broke into the mainstream with their album ‘Waiting for the Sun’ which was released in the year 1968. Their active career ended in 1973 although their popularity has never ceased owing to their quality music.
