The post-hardcore band hails from Merthyr Tydfil, Wales and was formed in the year 2003 ‘out of boredom’, as they say. The band was originally called ‘Ten Minute Preview’ although they changed their name to ‘The Blackout’. The Blackout started with tours by backing up bands and playing alongside big names like Reuben, Fightstar after which they decided to launch their first album. The band came up with their debut album ‘The Blackout! The Blackout! The Blackout!’ in 2006 through Fierce Panda Records. Their song ‘Hard Slammin’ and ‘The Beijing Cocktail’ were widely appreciated with the latter making it to the UK’s single charts.The band was nominated for ‘Best Newcomers’ in Kerrang! Awards too. The first album that made it to the UK charts was ‘The Best in Town’ which was released in the year 2009. The band’s latest ‘Hope’ released in 2011 too made it to the UK charts and peaked at #27.
