The name of the band Stone Temple Pilots is often abbreviated as STP. The American band hails from San Diego, California and consists of lead vocalist Scott Weiland, brothers bass guitarist and vocalist Robert DeLeo and guitarist Dean DeLeo and drummer and percussionist Eric Kretz. The work of the band often encompasses hard rock, grunge, psychedelic rock, bossa nova and classic rock. The band found immediate success in the year 1992 with the release of their debut album ‘Core’. The album went on to receive 8x Platinum certification by RIAA. The album also sold around 40 million records worldwide which included 17.5 million in US alone. The commercial success of the album pushed the band into the limelight. The band dissolved in the year 2003 however reunited in 2008 and came up with their sixth album ‘Stone Temple Pilots’ which was released in the year 2010. The band has also won a Grammy for their performance in the single ‘Plush’.
