The American rock band was formed in Des Moines, Iowa by lead vocalist, rhythm guitarist and pianist Corey Taylor and former drummer Joel Ekman. The name of the band has been taken from an alcoholic drink which consists of one part whiskey, another part orange juice with a splash of sour mix. The band went on a hiatus in 1997 during which Corey Taylor and lead guitarist and keyboardist Jim Root spent most of their time working for Slipknot. The band reunited later in 2002. Stone Sour recorded their eponymous debut album in the year 2002 in Cedar Falls. The album charted at #46 on Billboard 200. Their song ‘Bother’ was featured on Spider-Man OST and peaked at #56 on Billboard Hot 100. The group has also received two Grammy Award nominations in the year 2003 and 2004 for singles ‘Get Inside’ and ‘Inhale’. The band were nominated again for Grammy for their single ‘30/30-150’.
