The Welsh rock band hails from Newport, Wales and was formed in the year 1998 after the disbandment of ‘Dub War’. Vocalist Benji Webbe formed the band with bassist Daniel Pugsley, guitarist Mikey Demus and drummer Dirty Arya Goggin after his previous band ‘Dub War’ disbanded owing to internal and financial problems in the band. The year 2002 saw the release of their debut album ‘Babylon’. The album was re-released by Lava Records in 2004 after the album was reissued in 2003 by RCA Records. The album became very popular and peaked at #1 on Billboard Top Reggae Albums chart in the US. It also peaked at #5 on Top Heatseekers chart and reached #189 on the Billboard 200. The year 2007 saw the release of Skindred’s second album titled ‘Roots Rock Riot’ under Bieler Bros. Records. Even their second album peaked at #6 on the Top Heatseekers chart in US. The band went on to release two more albums in 2009 and 2011.
