The American rock band was formed in the year 1997 and hails from Palm Desert, California. The line up of the band has always seen the founding member lead vocalist and guitarist Josh Homme. The current line up of the band comprises of several other members including him namely guitarist and backing vocalist Troy Van Leeuwen, drummer and percussionist Joey Castillo, backing vocalist and bass guitarist Michael Shuman and keyboardist and guitarist Dean Fertita. The band Queens of the Stone Age was formed when Josh Homme’s previous band ‘Kyuss’ disbanded. The first release of the band was ‘Gamma Ray’ which was a two-track EP which featured songs ‘Born to Hula’ and ‘If Only Everything’. The first live gig of the band was at OK Hotel in Seattle, Washington in the year 1997. The band came up with their eponymous debut studio album in the year 1998 which was released through Loose Groove records. The band has been nominated four times for Grammy Awards.
