The British rock band was formed in the year 1971 in London. The original members of the band were lead vocalist and pianist Freddie Mercury, guitarist and vocalist Brian May, bass guitarist and vocalist John Deacon and drummer and vocalist Roger Taylor. Progressive rock was observed in the band’s earlier works however the band gradually began incorporating more diverse and innovative styles at a later stage. The band’s eponymous debut album was released in the year 1973. Their album became very successful in UK along with its follow up titled ‘Queen II’ which was released in 1974. The band stepped into international spotlight only with the aid of ‘Sheer Heart Attack’ in 1974 and ‘A Night at the Opera’ in 1975. One of the most popular albums of the band was ‘News of the World’ which was released in the year 1977. The album contained two of rock’s most loved and identifiable anthems namely ‘We Will Rock You’ and ‘We Are the Champions’. On 25 November 1991, Freddie Mercury publicly acknowledged that he had AIDS, and a day later sadly died.
