Paradise Lost is considered to be one of the most amazing metal bands of all time. The band is also known as the pioneers of gothic metal subgenre. Their music often reflects various genres like doom metal, death/doom, synthpop/synthrock and gothic metal. The band was formed in the year 1988 in Halifax, England. Their debut album ‘Lost Paradise’ was released in the year 1990 and manifested exquisite work of doom/death metal style. The band went on to change their musical approach after the release of albums ‘Gothic’ and ‘Shades of God’ in 1991 and 1992 respectively. The vocalist of the band Nick Holmes changed his singing style by incorporating a cleaner tone instead of his typical death grunt which was observed in the band’s previous works. The band also experimented with several electronic styles however they once again later reverted back to gothic metal. The latest album of the band titled ‘Tragic Idol’ is set to release in 2012.
