The American heavy metal band was formed in Arlington, Texas. The band was formed in the year 1981 by Abbott brothers, drummer Vinnie Paul and guitarist Dimebag Darrell. Bassist Rex Brown and vocalist Terry Glaze later joined the band the same year. The band had replaced their vocalist Terry in the year 1987 with Phil Anselmo as they were looking for a new and heavier sound. The band has sold around 20 million albums. The band came up with the album ‘Cowboys from Hell’ in the year 1990. Their second album was released in the year 1992 and was named as ‘Vulgar Display of Power’. The band’s 1994 release was an album titled ‘Far Beyond Driven’ which debuted at No.1 on Billboard 200 when it was released. Pantera disbanded owing to tensions in the band which also saw Abbott brothers forming their own band titled ‘Damageplan. The chances of reunion wizened when Dimebag Darrell was shot by a mentally unstable fan during a Damageplan performance.
