The famous American rock band was formed in the year 1987. Nirvana saw its origins in Aberdeen, Washington. The band was formed by singer and guitarist Kurt Cobain and bassist Krist Novoselic. The band saw numerous changes in their drummers and finally settled with Dave Grohl who joined in 1990 and became their longest-lasting drummer. Nirvana’s debut album ‘Bleach’ was released in the year 1989 for the independent record label Sub Pop. It was only when the band signed to DGC Records that the band was able to find unmatched commercial success with their single ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ which came from their second album titled ‘Nevermind’ released in the year 1991. The success popularized alternative rock and, of course, the lead singer Kurt Cobain who was referred to as ‘spokesman of a generation’. The third album of the band was released in the year 1993 which was named as ‘In Utero’. The band disbanded due to the death of Kurt Cobain in 1994.
