The name of each member of the band was altered in 1996 which saw a combination of an iconic female sex symbol’s name with an iconic serial killer’s name (e.g. merging of Marilyn Monroe and Charles Manson resulted in Marilyn Manson). The band members are also known for their outrageous and shocking behavior both on and off- stage. Their violent themes and lyrics have often incited criticism and they have been banned from performing many times..
