The British pop/ska band was formed in the year 1976 in Camden Town, London. The band boasts of their seven member line-up which produces excellent and exceptional 2 Tone, ska, new wave, reggae and jazz music. The band’s mainstream commercial success happened during the early and mid 80s. Madness shared the record with UB40 of staying around 214 weeks on UK Singles chart during the 80s. Originally the band was formed as ‘Invaders’ in 1976 and had members keyboardist and vocalist Mike Barson, guitarist Chris Foreman, saxophonist and vocalist Lee Thompson. The band also changed their name briefly to ‘Morris and the Minors’ before renaming themselves to Madness. The band paid homage to their idol Prince Buster through their song titled ‘The Prince’ which was released in 1979. The song became a surprise hit and peaked at #16 on UK music charts. The band’s debut album ‘One Step Beyond…’ was released through Stiff Records which peaked at #2 on UK Albums chart.
