The English electropup duo consists of singer, keyboardist, co-writer and co-producer Elly Jackson and co-producer and co-writer Ben Langmaid. There are also some supporting band members to the duo. They consist of keyboardist Michael Norris, keyboardist and backing vocalist Mickey O’ Brien and drummer William Bowerman. The name of the band basically provides reference to Elly Jackson’s long hair and tomboyish appearance. The band has won several awards so far which includes O2 Silver Clef, Studio8 International Music, iTunes 2009 UK Music, NME, International Dance Music and Grammy Awards. Originally the band started their project under the name ‘Automan’. La Roux came up with their debut single ‘Quicksand’ which was released in 2008. The second single of the band ‘In for the Kill’ released in 2009 became a major hit and debuted at #11 on UK Singles Chart. It reached #2 after a month. The band signed to Polydor Records and came up with their eponymous debut album in the year 2009.
