The American rock band originated in Albion, Oklahoma although the band was formed Nashville, Tennessee in the year 1999. The members of the band are all brothers who comprise the line up. Lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Caleb Followill, drummer, percussionist and backing vocalist Nathan Followill, bass guitarist and backing vocalist Jared Followill and their cousin lead guitarist and backing vocalist Matthew Followill comprise the band.

The name of the group has been inspired from their grandfather Leon who hailed from Talihina, Oklahoma.

The band tasted success when they released 9 singles which reached Top 40 singles list in UK and received two BRIT Awards in 2008. The first three studio albums of the band titled ‘Youth & Young Manhood’ in 2003, ‘Aha Shake Heartbreak’ in 2004 and ‘Because of the Times’ in 2007 peaked in top five of UK Albums chart. The third album made it to the #1 spot in the UK Albums chart.
