James Marshall Jimi Hendrix was an American guitarist, singer and songwriter, born in the year 1942. He is considered to be one of the best electric guitarists of all time. His influential music style in different music genres won him millions of hearts during his active years. Jimi died on September 18, 1970.

He was famous for being a part of the group ‘The Jimi Hendrix experience’ which went on to achieve commercial success all across the globe. Jimi preferred the use of overdriven amplifiers which helped in the development of the unwanted technique of guitar amplifier feedback. Jimi and Eric Clapton stand as the pioneers who popularized the use of wah-wah pedal in mainstream rock genres.

Jimi won various prestigious awards throughout his lifetime and went on to receive various rock awards posthumously. The magazine Rolling Stone also named him as the number one guitarist in the history of music in their list of 100 greatest guitarists of all time in the year 2003.
