HIM is a Finnish rock band which was formed in Helsinki in the year 1991. The band was formed by vocalist Ville Valo, guitarist Mikko Lindstrom and bassist Mikko Paananen.

The current members of the band comprise of lead vocalist Ville Valo, guitarist Mikko Lindstrom and bassist Mikko Paananen, drummer/percussionist Mika Karppinen and keyboardist/backing vocalist Janne Puurtinen. Originally the band was called ‘His Infernal Majesty’ and under that name they produced two demos titled ‘Witches and Other Night Fears’ and ‘This Is Only the Beginning’ and one EP.

HIM has released around seven full length studio albums so far. The band’s latest work is ‘Screamworks: Love in Theory and Practice’ which was released in the year 2010.

The band’s fifth studio album ‘Dark Light’ which was released in the year 2005 earned gold certification on September 5, 2006 which made HIM the first Finnish band to have a gold album in US.
