Heaven and Hell was an English and American heavy metal band which saw its active years from 2006 to 2010. The band basically happened as a collaboration of Black Sabbath members Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler along with members Ronnie James Dio and Vinny Appice.

The band with all the four members of Black Sabbath did various tours together and it was then decided that the name of their touring group should be kept as ‘Heaven and Hell’ in order to differentiate the project from Ozzy Osbourne’s Black Sabbath. The name of the band was inspired from the first Dio fronted album of Black Sabbath titled ‘Heaven and Hell’.
The group however disbanded owing to the sudden hospitalization followed by the death of James Ronnie Dio in 2010.

Although short-lived the band had been very successful owing to the already famous Black Sabbath members. They came with an album ‘The Devil You Know’ in 2009 which peaked at #8 on Billboard 200. Heaven and Hell also released two live albums which did good business.
