The band’s name is often abbreviated as 5FDP. ‘Five Finger Death Punch’ was formed in Los Angeles, California in the year 2005. The name of the group has been inspired from classic oriental martial arts cinema.

The original members of the band were vocalist Ivan Moody, guitarist Zoltan Bathory, guitarist Caleb Bingham, drummer Jeremy Spencer and bassist Matt Snell. The band saw few changes in line up when Bingham left in 2006.

The debut album of the band titled ‘The Way of the Fist’ was released in the year 2007 which became a huge hit. The band went on becoming immensely successful with their follow- up albums that were released in the year 2009 and 2011 titled ‘War is the Answer’ and ‘American Capitalist’ respectively.

5FDP is very popular today owing to their amazing quality music in heavy metal, alternative metal and groove metal genre. The band’s first two albums were able to sell more than 500,000 copies each in United States.
