Blondie was considered to be an underground band in US even though the first two albums of the band were huge hits in UK and Australia. ‘Blondie’ in 1976 and ‘Plastic Letters’ in 1978 were very successful worldwide.

Blondie came into the limelight in US after the release of their third venture titled ‘Parallel Lines’ in 1978. After the release of their sixth album titled ‘The Hunter’ in 1982 the band broke up. Harry went on to pursue a solo career while taking few years off to take care of Chris Stein who suffered from pemphigus. The band reunited in 1997 and topped the charts with their single ‘Maria’ in 1999.

The band is also known for its eclectic style of mixing various genres like disco, pop, rap, reggae with ‘New Wave’.
