The English rock band was formed in the year 1977 in Sheffield. The band was created as a part of New Wave of British Heavy Metal movement.

The band’s constant and longest standing line up started since 1992 with vocalist Joe Elliott, bass guitarist Rick Savage, drummer Rick Allen, guitarists Phil Collen and Vivian Campbell and at 20 years is considered to be one of the longest standing line ups in the genre of rock.

The band tasted commercial success in the early 80s and early 90s. The band came up with their debut album in 1981 titled ‘High ‘n’ dry’ which became a huge hit. The album’s track ‘Bringin’ On the Heartbreak’ became the first metal video to be played on MTV in 1982. Their second album ‘Pyromania’ which was released in 1983 made Def Leppard extremely successful. Their single ‘Photograph’ is still played all across the globe.

The band’s fourth album ‘Hysteria’ released in 1987 topped the US and UK charts.
