The American heavy metal band was formed in the year 1995 in Washington, D.C. which initially comprised of vocalist John Henry, guitarist Mike Schleibaum, bassist Raul Mayorga and drummer Matt Maben.

The band’s first EP titled The Misanthrope was released in the year 1996 which was through a local label named Death Truck Records. The band released their first full length LP titled ‘The Mark of the Judas’ which was released in the year 2000 through M.I.A. Records. However the LP wasn’t very widely promoted as M.I.A. Records went out of business soon after the release of the album.

Darkest Hour signed Victory Records and came up with another venture titled ‘So Sedated, So Secure’ which was released in the year 2001. Various tours followed the release in order to promote their music. However it was only until the release of ‘Undoing Ruin’ in the year 2005 that the band’s album saw the charts for the first time. Their album reached 138 position on Billboard 200 and 10th position on US Independent Albums.
